Plagiarism Policy of Hansen Scientific Publication Society
At the Hansen Scientific Publication Society, we are committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity in all aspects of our publishing process. Plagiarism, in any form, undermines the integrity of scientific research and violates ethical standards. As part of our commitment to publishing trustworthy and original research, we have established a clear Plagiarism Policy to guide authors, reviewers, and editors in maintaining the highest standards of originality and scholarly conduct.
What Constitutes Plagiarism?
Plagiarism is the act of presenting someone else's work, ideas, or findings as your own, without proper attribution. It can take various forms, including, but not limited to:
-
Direct Plagiarism: Copying text, images, or data from another source without proper citation.
-
Self-Plagiarism: Reusing one’s own previously published work without appropriate acknowledgment or citation, including using data or text from past publications as if it were new.
-
Paraphrasing without Attribution: Rewriting another author’s work or ideas without providing proper credit or citation.
-
Inaccurate Citations: Failing to accurately cite sources or citing sources in a misleading manner, such as citing non-existent references or misrepresenting the source of a quotation or idea.
Prevention of Plagiarism
-
Originality of Content:
Authors are expected to submit only original work that has not been published elsewhere. If any part of the manuscript contains previously published material, authors must obtain permission from the original publisher or copyright holder and provide proper citations. -
Proper Citation and Acknowledgment:
Authors must provide clear and complete citations for all sources referenced in their manuscript, including direct quotes, paraphrased ideas, and data. All sources must be cited according to the appropriate citation style required by the journal (APA format). -
Use of Plagiarism Detection Software:
All submitted manuscripts will undergo plagiarism checks using reputable plagiarism detection tools (such as Turnitin or iThenticate). Any manuscript found to contain significant uncredited material will be flagged for review.
Actions in Case of Plagiarism
-
Initial Review:
The editorial team will conduct an initial review of manuscripts flagged for potential plagiarism. If plagiarism is suspected, the manuscript will be thoroughly examined, and the author will be contacted for clarification. -
Rejection of Manuscripts:
Manuscripts found to contain substantial plagiarism or unethical use of others' work will be rejected. If plagiarism is detected during the review process, the manuscript will not proceed to publication. -
Retraction of Published Articles:
If plagiarism is detected after the article has been published, the article will be retracted. A retraction notice will be issued, and the article will be removed from the journal's website, unless there are valid reasons for the retention of the article (such as the detection of a minor citation error or issue that can be rectified). -
Notification to the Author’s Institution:
In cases of severe plagiarism or scientific misconduct, the author’s academic or research institution may be notified for further investigation and action, in accordance with their internal guidelines. -
Banning of Authors:
In cases of repeated or serious plagiarism, authors may be banned from submitting future articles to any of the Hansen Scientific Publication Society journals.
Ethical Responsibility of Reviewers and Editors
-
Reviewers: Reviewers are expected to alert the editorial team if they detect any instances of plagiarism or unethical behavior in the manuscript they are reviewing.
-
Editors: Editors play a crucial role in identifying and addressing potential plagiarism. They are responsible for ensuring that the peer-review process upholds the highest standards of integrity and that any instances of plagiarism are investigated and dealt with appropriately.
Author Acknowledgment
By submitting a manuscript to one of our journals, authors affirm that the content is original, that all sources are properly cited, and that they have adhered to ethical standards of publication. Authors are also expected to avoid self-plagiarism by ensuring that any previously published work is properly referenced.
The Hansen Scientific Publication Society takes plagiarism seriously and upholds a zero-tolerance policy toward academic dishonesty. We are committed to maintaining the integrity and trustworthiness of our publications, and we encourage authors, reviewers, and editors to maintain the highest standards of ethical conduct. Through our plagiarism policy, we aim to preserve the credibility and quality of the research we publish and to foster an environment of responsible scholarship.
